Thursdays with the Mayor Live Coming to Hastings in August

Mayor Jay Beckby invites the public to learn more about the budget process and how taxes support the City of Hastings during an open house event called “Thursdays with the Mayor Live.”

Thursdays with the Mayor Live will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday Aug. 6, at the Hastings City Auditorium. 

City staff members representing different departments will be located at stations on the City Auditorium floor with information about their respective departments. Visitors will rotate through the stations, receive information and engage with staff.

Mayor Jay Beckby will also address the crowd multiple times during the event. Video of his opening remarks will be posted to City of Hastings social media pages. 

Beckby will supply food for the event.

“Transparency and public involvement are important to me as Mayor,” he said. “As we move through the budget approval process, I wanted to give the public a chance to come out and really learn how the City works, learn how taxes are derived and applied, and get a hotdog while you’re at it.”

Thursdays with the Mayor Live is a continuation of “Thursdays with the Mayor,” the Mayor’s twice monthly updates with information about upcoming Hastings City Council meeting agendas, City department programming and other news from around the Hastings community. Thursdays with the Mayor videos are posted on the City of Hastings Facebook page and YouTube channel. 

Even though Thursdays with the Mayor Live is four hours long, it is an open house and visitors to the event can come and go as they wish.
