Anglers may be surveyed at seven lakes in 2026

Nebraska Game and Parks

Nebraska anglers, fisheries managers want your help.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, is conducting creel surveys to better understand the relationship between the angling community and fisheries.

These angler surveys will be conducted at Davis Creek Reservoir, Calamus Reservoir, Sutherland Reservoir, Lake Ogallala, and Prairie Queen Reservoir from April through October, and at Prairie View Lake and Duck Creek Recreation Area from May through July.

Anglers at those waters may be approached by creel clerks, who can be identified by their blue polo shirts and hats. They will be carrying clipboards, buckets and measuring boards.

Creel clerks are not law enforcement officers and are there only to collect information that supports fisheries research and management.

During these surveys, anglers may be asked questions about their trip, including how long they fished, what species they targeted, and what species they caught during their trip.
